Application Requirements
To apply, you’ll need to:
- Meet health and character, good person requirements
- Prove the funds are legally acquired and are owned directly by the main applicant (or with partner included in the application)
- Transfer the funds to New Zealand through the banking system
- Commit to the investment within six months of approval in principle (or one six month extension possible on application)
What Is the Active Investor Plus Visa?
The Active Investor Plus visa has been available in its current format since 1 April 2025, having undergone a significant review and update from the predecessor version. Increasingly referred to as New Zealand’s Golden Visa, it is designed to attract high-value investors who want to actively engage with the local economy. Successful applicants gain the right to live, work, and study in New Zealand as resident visa holders from the outset, and then ultimately qualify for permanent resident visas once an investment period and minimum day count have been met.
